I hired Dave and his son, Micah, to perform a home inspection on a new construction home I was purchasing, and I’m extremely glad I did. They were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly thorough throughout the entire inspection.

I had always assumed that a brand-new home wouldn’t necessarily need the same level of inspection as an older home, but this experience completely changed my perspective. Their inspection identified numerous issues that I would have never known to look for myself, including missing flashing, concerns with the roof underlayment, missing weep screeds, improper outdoor-rated insulation on portions of the HVAC system, doors that were not properly sealed, and even smaller items such as missing door stops.

The report was extremely detailed and included photographs and explanations of each finding. Having everything clearly documented gave me actionable information to bring back to the builder. The builder then had to go through the findings with me, explain them, and address the items that needed correction. Without this inspection, I very likely would have closed on the home without knowing that many of these issues existed.

One of the things I appreciated most was having an independent third party looking out for my interests as the buyer. Dave and Micah’s job was to inspect the home and document what they found, regardless of whether those findings were convenient for the builder. That gave me a great deal of confidence in the process.

After the inspection, Dave and Micah took the time to walk me through the more concerning findings on-site, and I received the detailed report that same day. Dave also followed up afterward and was willing to answer questions and explain anything I didn’t fully understand.

A home is one of the biggest purchases most people will ever make, and the cost of a thorough inspection is small compared with the potential cost of discovering problems after closing. Their inspection gave me the information I needed to have an informed discussion with my builder and make a better decision about the home I was purchasing.

I highly recommend Dave and Micah to anyone purchasing a new construction or existing home. Their thoroughness, professionalism, detailed reporting, and willingness to explain their findings made the inspection well worth the money.

I recently hired Next Step Inspections, GA to conduct a home inspection while my family and I were in the market to purchase a home here in Valdosta. Can’t thank Dave and his son Micah for doing a very thorough inspection on a home I was looking at purchasing. They did an amazing job at finding issues ranging from foundation to loose sheet metal on the roof and everything in between.
